Southwest Ohio PMI Scholar Program
Mission: To foster project management in the
university environment
Objective: An
initiative to expand the awareness of project management throughout the
business and university communities
SCHOLAR PROGRAM – OUTLINE
-
Student teams participate in a competition which will
be conducted at each local university at program level
-
Student teams will develop project management
deliverables/plans for projects within the local community.
-
They will present their results to a group of PMI
judges, who will judge them based on standardized criteria, and then
select the best plan.
HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS
-
A PMI Relationship Manager (RM) works with the
instructor/professor to develop the program based on the syllabus of
the educational institution
-
Instructor and RM decide on deliverables required -
for example, Charter, WBS, Roles and Responsibility chart… etc.
-
Instructor and RM decide on the judging criteria and
finalize dates
-
Students identify qualifying projects in community,
develop deliverables
-
Students deliver a presentation about their project
plan to a team of qualified PMI judges
-
PMI judges select the winning work and the PMI
scholar award is presented at a PMI Meeting
We think it is valuable for educational institutions to
participate in the PMI Scholar Program because...
-
The program brings real-life experience to both the
professor and the students
-
Business communities will gain when the students
graduate
-
Community organizations gain exposure to the
educational process and builds a relationship with the college
