Community Connection

Request to community organizations

The Southwest Ohio PMI Chapter and educational institutions like Xavier, UC, NKU, and Cincinnati State are again offering agencies a chance to develop excellent project management capabilities. Students from these schools will be available to assist non-profit agencies, free of charge, in organizing, planning, scheduling, and establishing documentation procedures for important and significant agency projects.

These students will bring the latest project management technologies to agency programs, and the agencies will benefit by having the support, advice and counsel of business professionals with expertise in finance, engineering, accounting, marketing, computer technology and much more. In addition, an agency representative will be invited to attend the student’s presentation of the findings to the class.  It’s important to note that the students will only do the planning for the project. Agency staff or additional volunteers will be needed to complete the project.

In this regard, we are soliciting project proposals from community organizations for these students to develop project plans. However, please note that the issue or concern selected should be one ordinarily addressed by administrators, managers and service providers and the project planning should be capable of being completed within a six week to three-month period and need no more than two meetings per month between the agency and the PMI student team (see attached guidelines). If you are interested, please contact our director of community outreach.

If your proposal is accepted, a representative from your agency will be asked to join the assigned student team for a proposal discussion on the first day of the academic session for the students.  Selected agencies are also asked to attend team presentations at the completion of the projects. The dates for these events will be notified in advance.

We know that your involvement will be very beneficial for the students’ development. We are also confident that the benefit of their work will be well worth your agency’s time and involvement. We encourage you to join us in this endeavor and submit a proposal to be considered.

If you have any questions, please call Mark Magnus at (513) 708-3935.
