Academic

Our Director of Academic Outreach, Paula Landry, leads programs focused on getting the project management message into academia.  Working with Relationship Managers at local universities the Southwest Ohio Chapter of the Project Management Institute reaches hundreds of students each year.  Academic outreach programs are always seeking Volunteers and Sponsors interested in up and coming graduate and undergraduate students.

Scholarship Program, the Southwest Ohio Chapter of the Project Management Institute (SWOC PMI)

In conjunction with the Project management Institute Education Foundation PMIEF, SWOC PMI is proud to support a scholarship program open to all chapter members and families.

The Academic outreach is working hard to increase Project Management awareness among the High School Teachers and students in the tri-state area. The aim is to start Project Management activities in selected high schools from the academic year 2010 -11 onwards. Efforts are underway to start these activities in the Ohio area. We are looking for a volunteer for the Northern Kentucky area to work closely with the Director, Academic Outreach. If you are interested, please contact Devaki Warrier PMP (dev.warrier@gmail.com).

Academic Outreach

The Southwest Ohio Chapter of the Project Management Institute (SWOC PMI), working with Cincinnati State, Xavier University and Northern Kentucky University (NKU) offer a scholar award program. Each semester a classroom will divide students into several teams. Student teams plan and often execute project management for a not for profit organization or in a pedagogic fashion. SWOC PMI members form a panel and review the artifacts produced by each team.  SWOC PMI identifies a team for special recognition awarding students chapter membership, training, and a nominal cash award.

Having been in existence for a decade the scholar award program has come full circle. A student once judged, has gone on to serve on an award panel, and then to teach project management at NKU.
