Executive Advisory Board Overview Objective
The Executive Advisory Board (EAB) will advise the President and the Board in the activities of the chapter, with particular emphasis on advancing the project management profession in local businesses.
Role
Strengthen the collaborative partnership between the chapter and the Southwest Ohio business community by:
•Providing feedback and advice to the chapter on its strategies, programs and services.
•Promoting the practice of project management and the chapter’s programs within their organizations and the broader community.
•Have “ senior management responsibility for project management functions in their organizations”.
•Are in a position to observe the impact of the chapter’s programs on their employees, and in turn, on their organization’s business results.
•Wish to achieve even better business results through the application of project management.
Ideally, EAB members will also:
•Represent organizations with a significant number of chapter members.
•Be able to make commitments for their organizations with respect to support for chapter activities.
•Be PMI members.
•Be able to represent the chapter by speaking to business and community groups.
Expectations of EAB members
•Attend a majority of EAB meetings (recognizing that meetings will be scheduled in consultation with the members).
•Become sufficiently familiar with the chapter’s programs and activities to provide meaningful and helpful advice.
•Provide advice and feedback to the chapter’s board of directors based on personal experience as business leaders, and on the needs of their respective organizations.
•Devoting sufficient time to educate EAB members and provide the necessary background information.
•Devoting the necessary time to understand the EAB’s recommendations.
•Conducting well-organized and efficient EAB meetings.
•Implementing the recommendations deemed appropriate by the appropriate officer(s).
•Periodically providing tangible recognition of EAB members’ contributions and their respective companies.
•Funding the EAB’s activities.
The appointed EAB members must:
•Be recognized as “executives” by the chapter members within their respective organizations.
•Be influential with respect to project management related policies within their respective organizations.
•Be skilled at creating value by providing strategic direction and allowing others to implement.
•Be willing to devote sufficient time to fulfill the EAB’s role.
Logistics
•Membership: president, immediate past president, advisors appointed by the president. Other PMI Chapter Board members will attend at the discretion of the president, and will normally be invited to participate in discussions related to the board member’s area of responsibility.
•Dinner meetings: approximately 4/year, organized by the immediate past president and hosted by the president.
•The meeting agenda will normally comprise one or more presentations of chapter program activities by the respective vice president, followed by discussion. Wherever possible, the vice president will pose specific questions for EAB resolution. Presentation materials will be provided prior to the meeting to allow proper review and formulation of feedback.
